Since 1946 the Venetian Del Bianco family has been linked to the production of Prosecco wine in the hills of Conegliano, now included in the DOCG Conegliano Valdobbiadene-Prosecco. Epifanio's adventure began with the purchase of a 5-hectare farm and the renovation of a farmhouse; Epifanio's son continued and further developed the business, now also followed by his grandchildren. From the initial 5 hectares, today they cultivate 280 hectares of vineyards between the hills of Conegliano and the plain of the Piave in the province of Treviso and they know them perfectly, taking care of them with the same passion and artisan attention of the beginning. A fifth of their vineyards are located in Ogliano, one of the “Rive” of the DOCG, that is, one of the geographical indications that represent the qualitative apex of Prosecco.
The knowledge and care of the territory, the fidelity to tradition have not prevented the winery from evolving and being able to produce wines according to the most up-to-date enological knowledge.
Masottina has equipped itself with a modern cellar in Conegliano designed to work using gravity to move grapes and wine without the use of mechanical pumps, thus fully respecting the raw material. The same attention is paid to the harvest that takes place early in the morning to bring the grapes to the cellar before the hottest hours of the day.
Once in the cellar, the grapes are immediately processed through soft pressing and the beginning of alcoholic fermentation in the stainless steel vats. Masottina wines aim to represent the territory of origin, respected thanks to a sustainable approach, which enhances biodiversity and attention to the health of the consumer. Part of the vineyards are SQNPI certified, others are organic or in organic conversion.
