List of products by brand Querciabella
Querciabella
Querciabella is a modern winery in Chianti, that has always been attentive to eco-sustainability: certified organic, it follows biodynamic and vegan principles in the vineyard’s management. After the purchase of the first vineyard plot in 1971 by the Castiglioni family, Querciabella achieved a role on international markets as early as the 1980s thanks to its modern-style wine making.
It is located in Ruffoli, on the right bank of the Greve river, at an altitude of about 400 m; vineyards are surrounded by woods.
The open minded owner, Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni, combined local grapes with successful international grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay.
He converted soon to an eco-sustainable, organic and biodynamic-inspired viticulture. Certifications have soon followed. Querciabella wines are produced with ethical and ecological attention and can also be consumed by vegans, as no use of animals or of animal derivatives is admitted in the production chain. In addition to the organic choice, Querciabella is also obsessed with aesthetic values, the search for beauty and a mania for perfectionism.
Wines that have obtained international success are: the red Camartina, a so-called "Supertuscan" made as a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet sauvignon, and the white Batàr, based on Chardonnay, inspired by fine Burgundy wines. It owns land in Maremma (coast of Tuscany) as well.
