List of products by brand Campo al Mare
Campo al Mare
Campo al Mare is part of the Folonari estates, which represent the legacy of a family that played an important role in the history of Tuscan wine. For a century the Folonari family owned the historic Ruffino, which was then sold to the Costellation Brands group. Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari, father and son, have decided to focus the business on fine wines and under the banner "Tenute Folonari" they manage the Tenuta di Nozzole and the Tenuta del Cabreo in Chianti, the Fuga in Montalcino, Torcalvano in Montepulciano and Campo al Mare in Bolgheri.
The Campo al Mare estate includes 21 hectares of vineyards in the municipality of Castagneto Carducci, cultivated with the typical varieties of Bolgheri: Cabernet sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet franc and Petit verdot. Vermentino is grown on the vineyards closest to the coast, where the soil is sandier.
All the vineyards benefit from a surplus of sunlight due to the proximity of the sea and this favors the perfect ripening of the grapes, even the late ripening Cabernet and Petit verdot.
Furthermore, the microclimate of Bolgheri is characterized by sea breezes that sweep away humidity and cause relevant temperature excursions during the summer season, favoring the accumulation of flavor compounds on the grape skin.
