More than a farm, Poliziano is the successful story of a family linked to the territory with an open and enlightened vision. The estate has 170 vineyards in Tuscany: most of them in the area of ​​Montepulciano (SI), the others in Cortona (AR) and Maremma (GR). Federico Carletti, graduated in agriculture, after an experience outside the region in the early 1980s took over the family business, founded by his father Dino in 1961. A trip to Bordeaux with Maurizio Castelli and Carlo Ferrini (today both important enologists) illuminated him and made him take on a new mentality, which no longer considers wine as a drink, but as a “way to express the technical skills of the winemaker”.
His approach aims to insist on territory wines, with experimentation and building on experience. He processes only his own grapes with a modern approach in the vineyard and in the cellar. The attention to the territory has led to the identification of prestigious crus (single vineyards) such as Asinone and Coggiole. The winery is run with organic principles and is going to be certified. Its success is linked to two amazing labels such as Asinone and Le Stanze. Asinone opened a new path for Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Le Stanze is an innovative wine made with the best grapes of Montepulciano and Maremma.
The name Poliziano is a tribute to the Renaissance poet Angelo Ambrogini, known as “Poliziano”. Today a new generation, represented by the children Francesco and Maria Stella, is preparing to support their father at the helm of the company.
