Friuli Pinot Grigio Ramato 2022
Pinot Grigio Ramato by Attems can be considered a white wine with a pink shade, or a very particular rosé wine. In reality it corresponds to a very specific typology, that is to a Venetian tradition of vinifying Pinot Grigio grapes with the the skin. Pinot Grigio is considered a gray grape variety, because when it ripens the skin of the berries is a beautiful dark pink, almost coppery color, deviating from the standard color of the white grapes, but it is not a black grape either. Traditionally in Veneto it was vinified in contact with the skins giving rise to a wine with an onion skin pink color. Attems wanted to propose this “coppery” version, making it respecting the taste of contemporary consumers and the wine is light, fruity and refreshing, excellent as an aperitif but also with shellfish or vegetarian dishes.
The grapes are harvested by hand between the end of August and the beginning of September. They are crushed and left to cold macerate for 10 hours. They are then pressed to extract a liquid must that has taken on a pink hue. It is clarified and then fermented in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature. The wine ages for 4 months in steel in contact with the fine lees.
