Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG Marchese Antinori 2019
The wine dedicated to the head of the Antinori family can only be an exclusive label. The grapes come entirely from the Tignanello estate, in the village of San Casciano Val di Pesa, between 300 and 400 meters above sea level. The hill of Tignanello is part of the ridge connected to Panzano in Chianti, bordered to the east by the Greve river and to the west by the Pesa river. The soil is rich in limestone and marl, the ideal combination to obtain structured and elegant wines with Sangiovese. The vineyards are located on the western side and face south and south-west, thus enjoying many hours of light and mild temperatures. The small percentage of non-native grapes (Cabernet) contributes to the complexity of the wine, without distorting its typicality.
The grapes are hand-picked and selected. The best grapes ferment at a controlled temperature in stainless steel vats with skin contact. Pumping over and délastage are carried out to favor the extraction of color and tannins from the skins. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and is then moved into French and Hungarian oak barrels. The wine ages in barrique for 12 months and for a further 12 months in the bottle.
