Alto Adige Terlaner Cuvée 2023 Cantina Terlano
In the specifications of the DOC Alto Adige Terlaner is a sub-region dedicated to white wines produced with the vine varieties traditionally cultivated in purity or blended together. In South Tyrol, international varieties such as Suvignon blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot bianco are considered part of the tradition as they have been present for a long time, earlier than in the rest of Italy. In the case of Cantina di Terlano’s Terlaner white wine, Pinot bianco is the shoulder of the wine, giving finesse, freshness and minerality to the taste; Chardonnay and Sauvignon blanc in smaller percentages contribute to the complexity of the aromas, roundness and freshness, giving rise to a wine with a developed and harmonious personality.
The grapes come from vineyards on the left bank of the Adige at varying altitudes up to 700 m above sea level and have a unique rocky soil, mainly made up of red porphyry and free of limestone. The main exposure is south and south-west.
The harvest is manual and selective. The grapes are crushed and left to settle in the cold to obtain a clear free-run must which ferments slowly at a low temperature in stainless steel vats. 80% of the wine then ages in contact with the fine lees for about 6 months; 20% of the wine ages on the fine lees in large wooden barrels.
