Pizza and beer is the winning combination, until you try pairing pizza with Champagne. In actual fact, there are as many pizzas to choose as there are possibilities to pair them. The sweetness of the pizza base is set off perfectly by the spumante, but when the toppings are more savoury, the choice of wine can range from a still white to a red, provided it is young and fresh. Many spumante, from Franciacorta to Champagne, create a wonderful harmony of taste with pizza, as do certain Lambrusco wines.
