Palmina Rosé 2022
It is a modern, slender and fragrant rosé, in line with the current trend of lean and impalpable rosé wines. Palmina is an important name for Riecine, she was the wife of the founder of the winery. The vineyard immediately behind the cellar is named after her and this very delicate rosé is also named after her. It has nothing to do with the Tuscan rosé wines of the past made for bloodletting, but is obtained with a specific project, inspired by the Provencal experience. Sangiovese grapes are harvested in advance, when the acid level is still high while the sugar level is pretty low, just as a white wine had to be made. Even the vinification is similar to that of a white wine, i.e. the alcoholic fermentation takes place without contact of the must with the skins in order not to extract tannins. The must takes on the pink color simply in the moment of pressing. The grapes come from vineyards in the village of Gaiole in Chianti at an altitude of 450-500 meters.
The grapes are harvested by hand in early September. They are immediately pressed and the liquid free-run must ferments in non-vitrified concrete vats with only indigenous yeasts at low temperatures. The wine rests in concrete for a few months before being bottled.
