Greco di Tufo Vigna Cicogna 2021
Greco di Tufo Vigna Cicogna wine is one of the greatest expressions of the Greco grape variety throughout southern Italy, it can be considered a true grand cru. It comes from a high hill vineyard at over 400 meters above sea level on soil of volcanic origin. The village of Tufo takes its name from the numerous sulfur mines and tuff quarries present in the past. Even if the microclimate is cool, almost mountainous, the vineyard enjoys an excellent southern exposure which, combined with the greater verticality of the sun's radiation due to the southern latitude, determines unique conditions. The Greco, having late ripening, prefers vineyards at altitude where it is able to ripen while retaining high levels of acidity, aromatic compounds and phenols.
The grapes are gently pressed and the must is clarified by cold decanting in the absence of oxygen. Then it ferments in steel vats at a controlled temperature. The wine ages for 7 months in steel on the fine lees.
