Pinot Grigio Scabrezza 2021
The white Pinot Grigio by Marchesi Antinori is born with the 2021 vintage. The Monteloro estate is located in the first Apennines north of Florence, in a cool area, where only Nordic varieties are able to ripen perfectly. In the vineyards of Tenuta Monteloro, which belongs to the Marquises Antinori, among other things, Pinot Grigio was planted, a grape of French origin and present in Italy especially in the northern regions, where there is also the practice of making wine with a brief skin-contact to extract the coppery color. In fact, the Pinot Grigio berries turn an intense pink color when they are ripe, it is a so-called gray grape variety. With this practice comes Scabrezza, a very subtle and elegant wine, with the fruity aromas typical of Pinot grigio and a refreshing and thirst-quenching taste.
The harvest takes place early in the morning. The grapes are de-stemmed and then left to cold macerate to facilitate the extraction of color and aromatic compounds from the skins. After pressing, the free-run must ferments in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature. The wine ages in steel for a few months before being bottled.
