Start off with a good Prosecco (you will need a cool bag too!), then move on to a white wine from Campania and a dry Lambrusco. But if you prefer heartier wines, then our picnic idea would steer towards a Valpolicella or a Rosso di Montalcino. A young Barbera or Nebbiolo would do equally well.
