Rosso di Montalcino 2019
Rosso di Montalcino is a really interesting wine because it allows you to appreciate the rich and deep taste of the Montalcino area without the austerity of Brunello and at a more affordable price. It is an intelligent denomination, it allows producers to make two wines from the same vineyards and with the same grape: Brunello is the wine aged for a long time and destined to be uncorked after years, while the Rosso di Montalcino is a supple wine to be appreciated in youth. Le Ragnaie produces Rosso di Montalcino with grapes harvested in different positions on the Montalcino hill, but always at important altitudes; this allows to obtain a balanced and elegant flavor. It is an organic wine produced in the traditional way from pure Sangiovese aged in large barrels.
The grapes are harvested by hand. Alcoholic fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in concrete tanks. During the maceration with the skins, frequent pumping over is carried out. After racking, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and finally it ages in large Slavonian oak barrels for 13 months.
