Fiano di Avellino Radici 2022
Mastroberardino’s Fiano Radici is linked to the Irpinia tradition. Antonio Mastroberardino recovered the Fiano from oblivion in the last vineyards where it remained in the municipality of Lapio. He started replanting it in the 1980s, demonstrating that it has great personality and is intimately linked to the place. The Fiano Radice vineyards are located in the municipality of Santo Stefano del Sole at over 500 m above sea level with sandy soil rich in minerals. Fiano is not very productive, but its grapes have thick skin rich in flavor compounds. Santo Stefano del Sole is one of the most suitable areas for Fiano, as the constant wind keeps the grapes healthy and the poor and draining soil limits yields.
The grapes are harvested by hand in the second half of October and the wine is produced with a fermentation of the free-run must in steel vats at a controlled temperature.
