Special Club Extra Brut Cuis 1er Cru 2018 (con astuccio)
Spécial Club Cuis 1er Cru 2018 is a lively, fresh and elegant Blanc de Blancs, produced using only 100% Chardonnay grapes from the Cuis 1er Cru area in the Côte des Blancs, one of France's most prized wine regions. Although Cuvée Cuis 1er Cru has been produced for almost 100 years, this new 'premium' version was recently added to the range using the excellent 2018 vintage.
Vinification takes place with manual harvesting and pressing of the grapes, followed by alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature and then the malolactic fermentation process. The wine remains on the lees for 6 months, before cold stabilisation and filtration on clay. After ageing on the lees for 4 years, dégorgement is carried out three months before release.
Traditionally, the Cuvée Special Club represents the best of the production, blending grapes from several of the producer's vineyards. However, starting with the 2012 vintage, Didier and Olivier Gimonnet began developing special editions of the Special Club, in this case using only grapes from the Cuis Terroir Premier Cru. The result is a unique Champagne with an unmistakable character that fully expresses the authenticity and quality of the Chardonnay grapes grown in this wonderful terroir.
