Ferghettina was born as a small family winery in 1990; in 30 years it has gone from the initial 4 hectares of vineyards to almost 200 hectares in 11 different municipalities. The name Ferghettina is the toponym of the place where the winery was built. Roberto Gatti, the founder, had worked for 20 years for other producers, including Bellavista. At one point he decided to go on his own with his wife. Today their children are also involved in the business.
The winery is located in the village of Adro, in the center of the Franciacorta DOCG production area. The vineyards are conducted organically, and the grapes of each vineyard are fermented separately. In the cellar, the style of Ferghettina favors the search for finesse, using only the must from the first pressing and the fermentation of the base wines takes place only in steel.
Aging on the lees are quite long and the wines stand out for their lightness, precision and cleanliness. Ferghettina has created a square bottom bottle in which they put vintage Franciacorta Milledì and Franciacorta Rosé.
Production reaches 500,000 bottles per year.
