Vignamaggio Cabernet Franc 2019
Produced from 40-year-old vines grown on the right bank of the Greve Valley, near Villa Vignamaggio. The vineyards are located on the first hills along the road that leads to Lamole, with sandstone and schist soil. Cabernet franc matures well here thanks to the south-west exposure of the vineyards and loses the excessively green notes it may have in other territories.
The harvest is manual and alcoholic fermentation is carried out with natural yeasts. The wine ages in French barriques for 24 months. It then rests in the bottle again before being placed on the market.
Features
Colour: deep ruby red with purple rim.
perfume: blackcurrant jam, coffee, cinnamon, licorice and myrtle
Taste: vigorous and balanced, it has noble tannins and a long sweet finish reminiscent of a filled praline.
Suggestions
Cabernet franc 2017 is good now but can age further for more than 10 years. Body and elegance make this wine ideal when paired with a main courses of meat. Our suggestion: roast rack of lamb.
Recommended with: roasts, pork, meat sauce pasta.
