Syrah 2020

It is a varietal wine, out of any denomination. It is produced entirely with Syrah grapes from the Venetian plain where the Paladin winery has its historic headquarters. The soils have alluvial origins and are rich in clay and limestone. Viticulture has always been practiced in this area thanks to the mild climate due to the proximity of the Adriatic Sea. Today mainly international grape varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet, etc. prevail. The Syrah grape comes from the northern Rhone, but is now widespread all over the world, indeed it is among the most cultivated grapes and Syrah wines are much loved by consumers all over the world. Syrah wines use to have very deep purple-red color; the smell ranges from the fruity notes of strawberry, blackberry and plum to the more developed ones of chocolate, leather and even smoky. But the most characteristic feature of Syrah is the spice aroma of black pepper. The taste can have important tannins if cultivated with very low yields on poor soils, such as the granite ones of the Côte Rôtie and Hermitage. In the case of Paladin's Syrah, grown in the plain of Venice, the wine is on the contrary smooth and fruity.

Alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel vats at a controlled temperature of 25 ° C. Maceration is prolonged for 15 days. After racking, the wine also carries out malolactic fermentation. Finally, the wine ages for a few months in third and fourth passage oak barriques.
