Modus Toscana IGT 2020
The grapes are divided between 3 blends in these percentages: Merlot 46%, Sangiovese 31%, Cabernet Sauvignon 23%; the grapes come from the Poggio Casciano Estate, near Florence, are cultivated at an altitude between 290 and 450 m on clay, limestone and loamy soils.
Fermentation and maceration both take place in thermo-controlled steel vats for about 28 days while ageing takes place in barriques for about 12 months. The 2020 vintage was characterised by low production and continuous temperature fluctuations.
A wine that can be perfectly summarised in the main characteristics of its blend, in fact, it has inherited elegance from Sangiovese, softness from Merlot and power from Cabernet Sauvignon.
A small curiosity, modus derives from the Latin metodo and stands for the blending process of the three blends of grapes.
Modus is Ruffino's first Supertuscan.
