Gemei 2021
In the hilly vineyards further away from the shore of Lake Garda in the village of Peschiera, Ottella grows black berried grapes with which they produce their rosés and reds. The Gemei red wine is obtained by blending the native Corvina variety with two international grape varieties such as Merlot and Cabernet sauvignon. Cabernet and Merlot have actually been widely cultivated in Veneto for a long time, to the point that they are considered typical and many Venetian appellations are based on these grapes. These contribute to giving color and structure to the Gemei wine, while the native Corvina characterizes it with its elegance and pleasantness. The result is a youthful and lively red with good structure.
The harvest is manual between the end of September and the beginning of October, separated by variety. The grapes ferment in steel vats and also partly in oak vats with maceration. After racking, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and ages for a few months in steel and large oak barrel.
