Trentino DOC Müller-Thurgau Bottega Vinai 2023
Müller-Thurgau is a grape of German origin, but has made its home in Trentino. The name is a tribute to the agronomist who invented it: Professor Müller from Thurgau. What he did was crossing Riesling with Madeleyne Royale to get a cold-resistant grape like Riesling but with a friendlier and more fruity taste. He succeeded and this wine is an example. It comes from vineyards in the Cavedine Valley, on the Brentonico plateau and in Cimone, at altitudes between 500 and 700 m. The vineyards have different soils: dolomitic limestone and basaltic, which contribute to the complexity of the aromas.
The harvested grapes are subjected to a short cryomaceration. Then they are pressed and the free-run must ferments in steel vats at a controlled temperature. The wine ages in steel on the lees until bottling.
