Brunello di Montalcino 2018 Caparzo
Caparzo’s Brunello di Montalcino has been produced since 1970. Its main feature is that of being able to count on Sangiovese grapes from vineyards located in various areas of the hill, thus guaranteeing uniformity in the various vintages. In particular, the vineyards used for this Brunello are four. The first, of 8 hectares, is located on the north side near the cellar at 220 m above sea level with sandy-clayey soil. The second, of 7 hectares, at 300 m in the south-west area with soil rich in stones. The third of 6 hectares at 270 m is on the southern slope with shale and clay. Finally, 2 hectares are located in the eastern area on sand and clay.
The grapes for the Brunello are hand-picked. the alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel vats at a controlled temperature and a total maceration on the skins for 18-22 days. The malolactic fermentation spontaneously follows. The wine ages for at least two years in large oak barrels.
