Coste della Sesia Rosso Orbello 2022
The Orbello red wine is a medium-bodied wine, to be enjoyed with friends or family with everyday cooking or can be taken to a picnic. It is produced with grapes from the youngest vines, combining Nebbiolo with other varieties grown in the northern Piedmont area, in particular in the villages of Villa del Bosco, Brusnengo and Lessona. The microclimate of northern Piedmont is influenced by the proximity of the Alps and the soil of the vineyards is made up of porphyritic red sands of volcanic origin and yellow-orange marine sands. These factors give the wine unique characteristics: it has an intriguing and refreshing taste despite its simplicity. Orbello is an apparently simple wine, as the vinification is however demanding and requires a year of maturation in large oak barrels.
The grapes, harvested in early October, are de-stemmed and crushed. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats with temperature control and maceration in contact with the skins lasts 10 days. The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation and ages for 12 months in large Slavonian oak barrels of 5000 liters.
