List of products by brand Caparzo
Caparzo
Caparzo is a historic estate of Montalcino, it was among the first to make a single-vineyard Brunello such as Brunello La Casa, recognizing its distinctive character as early as the 1970s. Thus it anticipated a phenomenon that is very fashionable today.
Owner of Caparzo since 1988, Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini has invested heavily in the property both with the acquisition of new vineyards and by building a new wine making cellar and new aging cellar for Brunello. Today Caparzo, with its 90 hectares of vineyards, can be considered a large Montalcino farm estate, compared to the average size of Brunello producers.
The headquarters of the winery are located on the northern side of Montalcino as well as most of the vineyards. It is the slope from which the most elegant and subtle Brunellos are obtained, due to the characteristics of the soil and the slightly cooler climate. However Caparzo also has vineyards in other areas, some of which are located in privileged positions such as the hill of Montosoli.
Sangiovese is the most cultivated variety, but in its vineyards Caparzo also has Moscato, from which it produces the traditional Moscadello di Montalcino, and in limited quantities Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. It produces on average over 500,000 bottles a year.
