Faro di Le Casematte is the result of a blend of four Sicilian grape varieties: Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, Nocera and Nero d'Avola. The soil in which the grapes are cultivated is medium-textured clay, giving the wine unique characteristics.
Harvesting, carried out manually in boxes, starts from the second week of September for Nocera and Nero d'Avola, and from the third week of September for Mascalese and Cappuccio. Vinification takes place in truncated conical steel vats and the wine is left on the lees until January of the following year. After blending, the wine matures for about nine months in small to medium-sized French oak barrels and then refines for a further six months in the bottle.
