Alto Adige Terlano Sauvignon Winkl 2023 Cantina Terlano
Terlano’s white wine Winkl is a pure Sauvignon blanc coming from vineyards cultivated with this variety since the 1950s. The vineyards lie at altitudes between 280 and 580 m above sea level on the eastern bank of the Adige river; they have a soil formed by quartz porphyry, without limestone. This characterizes significantly the taste of the wine, in fact Sauvignon blanc varies its own aromatic profile according to the environmental conditions in which it ripens. In addition, the high diurnal temperature range typical of the mountain vineyards allow to have grapes rich in aromas and precious acidity.
The grapes are crushed and left to settle in the cold to clarify the must. The free-run must then ferments in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature. At the end the wine ages in contact with the fine lees for 7-8 months in steel vats; only a small part of the wine (about 20%) ages on the fine lees in large oak barrels.
