Alto Adige Terlano Pinot Bianco Vorberg Riserva 2021 Cantina Terlano
Vorberg is one of the greatest Pinot Blanc wines produced in Italy and possibly in the world. In fact, Alto Adige has proven to be one of the most suitable areas for this grape variety from France. The main characteristics of Pinot Blanc are the finesse of floral and fruity aromas, its crisp acidity, its balance and the potential longevity if it is grown in the right soils, namely granitic and lean.
Alto Adige Terlano Vorberg wine is in fact a cru, that is a wine coming from a specific, highly suited vineyard, in the Terlano area between 450 and 650 m above sea level with southern and southwestern exposure. The vines benefit from many hours of direct sunlight and are rooted in a lean soil, free of limestone, made up of quartz porphyry of volcanic origin. In these conditions the yields are naturally low, only 50 hl per hectare, and the grapes ripen perfectly concentrating flavor compounds and phenols. Like all the wines of the Terlano area it is endowed with excellent saline sensation and is predisposed to a slow and long bottle aging.
The Pinot Blanc harvest is manual. The bunches are gently pressed and left to settle at a cold temperature to obtain a limpid must. This ferments without skins in large oak vats at a low temperature. The wine also carries out malolactic fermentation and ages for a year in large traditional barrels in contact with the fine lees.
