Alto Adige Lagrein 2023
Lagrein is a native vine variety of South Tyrol, widespread throughout the province of Bolzano. It is highly appreciated because it gives dark colored wines with captivating fruity aromas and a bold and soft taste. It is also grown in the Terlano area; the Alto Adige DOC Lagrein red wine is the most classic and traditional version of this wine interpreted by the Cantina di Terlano. The grapes come from the lowest and least sloping vineyards, which extend between 250 and 290 meters above sea level.
The grapes are harvested by hand in crates and taken to the cellar where they are de-stemmed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature with maceration on the skins. After racking, the wine is transferred to large oak barrels where the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and ages for about 7-10 months.
