Alto Adige Pinot Nero 2023
Pinot Noir is one of the most difficult grapes to grow, because it is extremely demanding in terms of soil, microclimate and environmental conditions in general. However, when it meets favorable conditions, it can produce elegant wines, whose strong point is the richness of delicate aromatic nuances and not strength or power. Its homeland is Burgundy in the north of France, where the climate is particularly cool. In Italy it is present only in a few territories and South Tyrol is one of them. The cool climate close to the Alps in fact allows the Pinot Noir grapes to ripen perfectly and keep their fragrance. Cantina Terlano’s Pinot Noir comes from various vineyard plots between 450 and 650 m above sea level.
The grapes are harvested by hand and completely de-stemmed. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature with maceration on the skins. The wine is moved into large Slavonian oak barrels where the malolactic fermentation takes place and in these barrels the wine ages for a period of 7-10 months.
