The Sánchez Romate Hermanos winery was founded as a winery by the Spanish Juan Sánchez de la Torre in 1781 and is one of the few remaining in the hands of the same family to this day. A century after its foundation, the fourth generation of the family created the winery's best known product: the Brandy named Cardenal Mendoza Solera Gran Reserva. Sánchez Romate is considered one of the leading Spanish Brandy producers.
At the base of the production of wines and brandies are the grapes of Palomino, Moscatel and Pedro Ximénez and the typical white soil, called albariza, on which the vineyards in the Jerez region extend. Although today the wines and brandies of Sánchez Romate are widespread and appreciated all over the world, their link with the territory of origin and with traditional production methods such as aging according to the Solera system has never been lost.
