Three brothers founded La Montina winery in 1987 after they had bought Villa Baiana five years earlier, a wonderful estate rich in history. They are Gian Carlo, Vittorio and Alberto Bozza. Next to the villa they also built a cellar for their project to produce Franciacorta wines. The headquarters and the first vineyards are located in the village of Monticelli Brusati, at the north-eastern end of Franciacorta.
Today La Montnina owns 72 hectares of vineyards in 7 different villages within the Franciacorta DOCG territory.
The cellar is completely underground and includes 7,450 m² of underground spaces, which can accommodate up to 3 million bottles to age slowly as in Champagne. And from Champagne they also took inspiration to equip themselves with a vertical Marmonier press, which measures 3 meters in diameter and is 120 cm high.
This press allows a very soft pressing from which a particularly pure must derives. In 2016 they converted the vineyards to organic farming. La Montina produces about 400,000 bottles a year.
