Glenmorangie
The Scottish distillery Glenmorangie is located in the Highland territory and belongs to the luxury group LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moët-Hennessy). It is famous for having the tallest stills in all of Scotland: they measure over 5 meters and are responsible for a delicate taste.
Glenmorangie Distillery was founded in 1843 from an existing brewery. The period of prohibition and the great American depression reduced the demand for Whiskey and for some years, between 1931 and 1936 and then between 1941 and 1944 the Glenmorangie distillery suspended production. From the moment of its foundation to today, the distillery has changed several owners; however, the main development is due to the Macdonald family, who managed it from 1918 until 2004, when it passed to the international luxury group LVMH. The new owner has renewed the packaging with a new bottle shape and new labels.
The activity of the distillery is based on 12 large stills and the property extends over several hectares in order to include the Tarlogie springs, from which it supplies water rich in minerals.
For aging its Whiskeys Glenmorangie uses American oak barrels that have housed Bourbon for the first four years. For some products, further aging in other types of barrels refines the taste in a particular way. The Glenmorangie Whiskey range is very articulated, also including rare labels and special editions. The delicate taste of Glenmorangie Whiskeys is actually very refined and often incluedes fruity and balsamic aromas that stand out from the peaty background.
