Don Sancho de Londoño

Don Sancho de Londoño winery was founded in 2004 by a family of farmers with the aim of bottling and marketing wines from their vineyards in the Rioja wine region.
Rioja, in the north of Spain, is the country's most famous wine region and the one that was first recognized with the "Qualified Designation of Origin (DOCa)". The area underwent an important French influence during the 19th century when Bordeaux producers affected by phylloxera came here to grab wine to be bottled to meet the demand of their customers. The Rioja vineyards extend over a plateau at over 500m above sea level along the course of the Ebro River. Despite the southern latitude, the climate is typical of the mountains and allows the production of elegant wines.
The Don Sancho de Londoño winery owns 40 hectares of vineyards in Rioja Alta, south of the Ebro River and sheltered by a chain of mountains. It mainly grows native Spanish varieties with the exception of Sauvignon blanc.
