Vintage Tunina 2022
Vintage Tunina is an undisputed masterpiece of Italian enology. It has a historical record: it was the first successful Italian white wine, produced starting from 1975. Still today Vintage Tunina expresses a modern, contemporary taste; it was like a precursor of the times. Silvio Jermann, when he was only 21 years old, had the idea to harvest all the grapes of his best vineyard together, without looking at the sugar content and phenolic ripeness of each individual variety, but rather considering the vineyard as a single organism. "Tunina" was the nickname of the owner of the land (Antonia), but it is also the name of the poorest lover of the writer and lady-killer Giacomo Casanova.
The vineyard has the typical soil of Collio: a flysch, or marl and calcareous sandstone of a sedimentary origin, and is pruned to produce very low yields. The perfectly ripe grapes are processed exclusively in steel vats, where the wine ages for 9 months after fermentation.
