Vigna del Picchio Rosso dell’Emilia 2019 Box da 6 bottiglie
Rinaldini's Vigna del Picchio was born as a challenge: to produce from Lambrusco Maestri grapes a quiet wine of great value. And the challenge is absolutely successful!
The grapes are carefully selected and harvested late to ensure maximum concentration of flavours and aromas. Once the grapes arrive at the winery, they undergo a classic red cap fermentation at a controlled temperature. This process lasts for at least a month, after which the must is repassed over the Moro del Moro marc.
This is followed by a period of slow ageing in oak barriques, where the wine spends 15 months in new barriques (for 33%), one-year barriques (33%) and two-year barriques (for the remaining 33%).
After maturation in barriques, the wine rests in used wood for a further 18 months. This is a transitional period, in which the wine harmonises with the wood, developing an extraordinary complexity and unparalleled finesse. Finally, the Vigna del Picchio matures further in glass, giving it more balanced and non-aggressive flavours.
