Verdicchio di Matelica Cambrugiano Riserva 2019
Cambrugiano is a Verdicchio di Matelica in the Riserva type, the only version classified as DOCG. It was produced for the first time with the 1988 harvest and has represented the excellence of the Belisario winery. It is produced with a grapes’ selection from vineyards at an altitude of over 400 m above sea level in the Balzani district in the Matelica valley. The accentuated diurnal temperature range and the many hours of sunshine allow to harvest healthy, ripe grapes rich in acidity and flavor compounds. Careful processing allows to obtain a rich and long-lived wine, with a Mediterranean charm: one of the greatest expressions of the Verdicchio grape. The aging of over two years in the cellar is essential to extrapolate the more material and complex character of Verdicchio, which makes it truly fascinating and precious.
The harvest is manual in 20 kg crates. The grapes are subjected to a cryomaceration for 18 hours. Fermentation takes place without skins in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature with selected yeasts. Then 80% of the wine ages in steel on the lees and 20% of the wine ages in French barriques for 12 months. It is then aged for another year in the bottle before being put on the market.
