Valtènesi Riviera del Garda Classico Rosamara 2021

Rosamara is one of the best known and most appreciated labels of Chiaretto del Garda under the DOC Valtènesi. It is the result of in-depth research on rosé winemaking and on the Groppello grape variety, made by the oenologist Mattia Vezzola, owner of Costaripa. The elegance of this wine can be defined as a search for the essence of the grape in winemaking. In fact, a particular technique is used to extract only the purest must, or as the producer likes to say "the heart of the grape". Undoubtedly, the result is also due to the environment in which the grapes are grown. Valtènesi is the western shore of Lake Garda, in the province of Brescia, made up of light soils of alluvial origin, with limestone, skeleton and minerals. It is also an area with a climate mitigated by the presence of the largest Italian lake whose temperature never drops below 7 ° C and therefore makes this area also suitable for the cultivation of lemons and olive trees for example. The fresh air that blows from the alpine valleys at night helps to sweep away the humidity and create precious temperature variations between night and day. Finally, Valtènesi enjoys 3000 hours of sunshine a year on average and this favors perfect ripening of the wine grapes.

The harvest is carried out strictly by hand in the early hours of the morning. The free-run must is obtained by percolation, or by slow draining of the grapes with minimal pressure, so as to extract only the purest and most internal part of the grape with low yields. This must, just dyed pink, ferments without the skins in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature. Half of the wine ages 6 months in used unroasted barrels.
