Taurasi Radici 2018
Radici means “roots”: they are those that hold the vine firmly in the ground and nourish it, but they are also symbolic roots, the bond of the Mastroberardino family with the territory. Taurasi Radici wine strongly evokes tradition and the authentic style of the reds of Irpinia. In particular, the grapes come from the municipalities of Montemarano and Mirabella Eclano, both included in the DOCG Taurasi production area. The vines have clayey soil and face south-east in Montemarano and sandy with south-west exposure in Mirabella Eclano. The average altitude is 450 m and the plants are 20 years old on average.
Aglianico grape variety has a long ripening cycle and in the cool, almost piedmont climate of Irpinia, the harvest takes place late: in late October-early November.
The grapes ferment in steel vat with maceration. The wine ages 24 months in barriques and oak barrels and then 24 months in the bottle.
