Tageto 2021
Tageto is a red wine produced on the Tuscan coast by Donna Olimpia based on Cabernet Sauvignon, the grape variety that paved the way for the new style of Tuscan wines. Cabernet sauvignon is the most cultivated and known red grape in the world and Cabernet wines are the most popular in the world. Donna Olimpia’s red wine Tageto wants to be a wine of the Bolgheri area with an immediate and accessible character. The vinification involves a short aging in wood to create an immediate, easy to drink, refreshing taste in the successful style of Bolgheri reds. The soil of the vineyards is alluvial in nature and has a sandy and silty consistency. The climate is refreshed by the sea breezes and favors the development of aromas and the preservation of a precious acidity in the berries, which translates into gustatory freshness.
The harvest takes place in September. The grapes ferment with the skins in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature. After racking, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and then ages in French oak barriques for 4-6 months. Half of the barriques are new.
