Summus 2015
Summus represents Banfi's attempt to create a deep and complex modern wine using very different grape varieties. In his vineyards in Montalcino Banfi grows both Sangiovese and international varieties. The Summus is made up of the local Sangiovese, combined with Cabernet Sauvignon, king of Bordeaux wines, and Syrah from the Rhone Valley. All three grape varieties have a great personality. The result is a wine that stands out for the richness of its smell and the intensity of its taste.
Fermentation takes place in mixed steel and oak vats with temperature control. The wine then ages for 18 months in small 350 liter French oak barrels.
