Sfursat 5 Stelle 2020

Sfursat 5 Stelle is a legendary label of Nino Negri, one of the most famous Sforzato di Valtellina DOCG. The wine is produced with dried Nebbiolo grapes from the highest terraced vineyards of Valtellina; it is not a sweet wine, but a rich and powerful dry wine. Nino Negri has interpreted it in a modern key with a long aging in barrique, to make it easily understandable and appreciated by the general public. The wine is highly acclaimed by critics and consumers and is one of the most awarded modern Italian wines. The characteristic of the Sfursat 5 Stelle is that it is produced with a native and difficult vine variety such as Nebbiolo which in Valtellina is called Chiavennasca.

The grapes are harvested when perfectly ripe and left to dry in a drying room for 3 months before being vinified. The fermentation of the must is slow as it is a very concentrated must. After racking, the wine also undergoes malolactic fermentation and ages in barrique for about 20 months.
