Riecine di Riecine 2020
Riecine di Riecine is an extraordinarily elegant wine, pure and intimately linked to the territory of Gaiole in Chianti. It is a pure Sangiovese produced from the oldest vineyard on the estate, vinified with the utmost simplicity, without selected yeasts and without the use of wooden containers, so as not to undergo aromatic contamination. The wine matures on the contrary in an egg-shaped non-vitrified concrete container. Concrete is a porous material and allows micro-oxygenation of the wine, but does not release aromas or tannins. The egg shape allows for convective movements inside the container which favor the perfect maturation of the wine and natural sedimentation. This expedient produces an elegant wine with medium body and great complexity. The Sangiovese from Gaiole in Chianti is exposed in its purity. The vineyards are located on high hills between 450 and 500 meters above sea level and have limestone and clay in the soil.
The grapes are harvested in October. They are selected through a vibrating table and ferment in concrete tanks with only indigenous yeasts and a total maceration of 20-30 days during which pumping over and délastage are carried out. Subsequently the wine ages for 36 months in non-vitrified concrete egg.
