Poggio de' Colli 2020
Poggio de' Colli red wine was born in the mid-90s in the wake of the so-called "Super Tuscans" movement. It is powerful and elegant, always fascinating year after year. It is a pure Cabernet Franc coming from a single vineyard, located at 250 meters above sea level. The vineyard has a soil made up of clay and marl and trained with the Guyot system with high planting density. Poggio de' Colli is an extraordinary wine in terms of class, complexity and depth, also an innovative wine, because in the 90s there were very few pure Cabernet francs.
The harvest is manual and the best grapes are selected, perfectly healthy. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in wooden vats with indigenous yeasts. During the two-week maceration, manual punching down is carried out to favor the delicate extraction of the tannins from the grape skin. The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation in French barriques and ages in barrique for one year.
