Piaggia is a family-run winery founded by Mauro Vannucci and carried on today by his daughter Silvia. It owns 20 hectares of vineyards in the Carmignano area in the province of Prato. The first bottled wine dates back to 1991 and since then Piaggia wines have conquered the Italian and international market.
The success is due to a modern and insightful interpretation of the traditional Carmignano wines where Sangiovese is historically vinified in blends with Cabernet. Piaggia is the toponym of the place where the first vineyards were purchased, which enjoy an extremely favorable exposure. The production includes red wines produced with the typical grapes of Carmignano, namely: Sangiovese, Cabernet, Canaiolo, Merlot. Poggio de 'Colli stands out, a 100% Cabernet franc, developed in the 90s from a single particularly suitable vineyard; one of the so-called "Super Tuscans".
