    Pinot Grigio 2023

Pinot Grigio is a gray grape variety of French origin that is increasingly cultivated in north-eastern Italy and gives wines that are much loved and requested by consumers. When the grapes ripen the berries turn a dark pink color and the wine tends to have an intense color with coppery reflections, especially if vinified with partial contact of the must with the skins, according to a traditional practice. Pinot Grigio is loved because it produces wines with intense fruity aromas and a round and balanced taste. In Friuli it has always been cultivated since the nineteenth century, so it is considered part of the tradition. The territory in which Jermann cultivates the Pinot grigio is that of the eastern Collio where the soils are formed by a stratification of marl and sandstone. This land, also called "ponca" is very suited to the cultivation of vines and the production of fine white wines. Jermann is an excellent winery in the Collio, famous for some iconic wines such as Vintage Tunina and Capo Martino, but also Pinot Grigio has been produced by Jermann since 1974 and was much appreciated by the food and wine journalist Luigi Veronelli since its very first vintage.

It is made with a partial contact of the skins with the must. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature and the wine ages in steel vats in contact with the lees for about 6 months.
