Perpiero Toscana Rosso IGT 2019 Tenuta Moraia
The blend is divided into: Sangiovese 40 %, Cabernet Sauvignon 40 % and Cabernet Franc 20 %, is cultivated within the family's Moraia estate, in the middle of three valleys that connect the sea to the Maremma hinterland. The vineyard is in an excellent position because the wind mitigates the hot Maremma climate and the high frequency of rainfall greatly aids its development.
After a careful selection of the grapes, the must ferments in steel containers, intriguing is the ageing phase which is different for each blend, in fact the Sangiovese ages in French oak barrels while the Cabernet in new wood, once the various blends have been reunited the wine matures for another year in barriques and then for a further 6 months in the bottle.
The 2019 vintage was a fantastic year for this wine, perhaps one of the best ever. The end result is a powerful, well-structured wine that is varied and broad both on the palate and nose, soft and with an excellent tannic structure, it is also a wine with significant longevity.
