James Suckling is an American journalist who began his career as a wine critic, writing for Wine Spectator. His passion for wine is due to his father, who early educated on how to best appreciate good wine.
He has undoubtedly contributed to the international success of the magazine and has specialized in the appreciation of European wines. From Paris he directed the European editorial board of the magazine. He is also a great cigar expert and reviewer. In 2010 he suddenly left Wine Spectator and a few years later he founded the Jamessuckling.com website from which he assigns scores to wines from all over the world. His scores are considered to be among the most influential and can make a winery commercial success. Interviewed by some Italian magazines he revealed that his analysis of wine is not based so much on scientific aspects, but on the emotions that wine arouses.
