Palafreno 2013
Palafreno is an ideal wine for special occasions, pure Merlot produced on the hills of Greve in Chianti (in Ruffoli to be precise), the Chianti Classico production area.
The love for Merlot drove Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni, owner of Querciabella, to design this wine as a unique expression of the grape variety in purity. It was firstly released in 2001 and since then it has been produced only in the most favorable years, because perfection does not allow for compromises.
Merlot is one of the most loved grape varieties in the world for the complexity it can achieve and for its sensual and generous character. Palafreno expresses all the charm of Merlot without forgetting its Tuscan territorial origin.
After fermentation it matures 18 months in French barriques, 30% new.
Features
Colour: deep ruby-garnet red.
perfume: raspberry and black currant, jams, vanilla and hints of brackish and undergrowth.
Taste: ull body and well rounded with compact texture. Tannins are silky and savory. It has a very long fruity finish.
