Benito Ferrara

Benito Ferrara is a small family-run winery in the village of Tufo in the province of Avellino, an area strongly suited to the cultivation of the Greco grape, in fact the village give its name to one of the DOCGs of Campania: Greco di Tufo. Well in Tufo the Benito Ferrara estate has the most important part of its 20 hectares of vineyards, in particular on the hill of San Paolo north of the river Sabato at over 400 meters above sea level; here is the vineyard from which his most awarded wine is born: the Greco di Tufo Vigna Cicogna. In the nearby municipality of Montemiletto at 500 m above sea level there are other vineyards cultivated with Aglianico.
Benito Ferrara transformed the family farm starting to market his own wines in 1991; today the daughter Gabriella Ferrara with her husband carries on the business, enjoying great success with the whole range.
The wines are an authentic expression of the Irpinia area, produced with great care and precision according to tradition. They only cultivate the native varieties Greco, Fiano and Aglianico, with which they produce about 70,000 bottles a year. They do not use fertilizers or synthetic products.
