Sicilia Bianco Damarino 2022
Damarino white wine is produced by Donnafugata with Ansonica grapes grown in the Contessa Entellina area with the addition of a small percentage of other local grapes. Ansonica is an ancient variety present in Sicily since the sixteenth century and widespread especially in the province of Palermo. In wines it tends to give aromas of dried fruit, unless it is vinified in advance as in this case, to preserve the refreshing acidity. Damarino wants to be a simple and pleasant wine that can be sipped at any time of the day without worrying about food pairings.
The 2020 harvest took place between the end of August and the beginning of September. After the pressing of the grapes and the clarification of the must, the alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature of 14-16 °C. The wine ages for two months in steel without carrying out the malolactic fermentation.
